Miley Cyrus Makes Her VMA Predictions

Miley Cyrus may be up for an award herself at the 2009 Video Music Awards this Sunday, but that doesn't mean the "7 Things" singer and "Hannah Montana" star isn't afraid to weigh in on the big battles brewing for this Sunday's big show: the fights for VMA supremacy between Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, and between Eminem and Kanye West.

Cyrus is placing her bets and taking sides — well at least in the girls' fight for Moonmen. "Beyoncé is just, like, a living legend," the 16-year-old told MTV News about why she thinks that B should take home more trophies than Lady Gaga. "So, that's why I feel like everything she is up for, she so deserves it."

Now, what about the guys? Well, it seems that Cyrus is less discerning and can't pick one over the other as easily. "Kanye and Eminem — I don't know who I think would win. I like both their music a lot," she explained. And with four nominations each, they very well could take home an equal number of prizes.

But Cyrus, who also happens to be a budding clothing designer when she's not topping the box office or the album charts, very easily picked who she thinks will be the best dressed of the night: the always avant-garde Gaga.

"You never know what Lady Gaga will wear," Cyrus said. "That's what I love about her. She's always surprising people, and she definitely gets mad respect for that."

Watch the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Preshow this Sunday, September 13, at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the big event, airing live at 9 p.m. New York is celebrating the VMAs all week long, so stay tuned for party coverage, concert reports, behind-the-scenes updates and more.

Miley Cyrus Surprises Fans With Performance At Disney Expo

Miley Cyrus gave a surprise performance to fans at today's D23 Expo. The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience presented a line-up of their upcoming movies, including Cyrus's film The Last Song. Nicholas Sparks wrote the story with Cyrus in mind, and the movie got made before the book was finished.

"I just got the book today," Cyrus said. "I'm so excited to start reading it."

A Sparks fan from seeing her mother read his books like The Notebook, Cyrus was flattered to be involved with his latest development. "He wrote it with me in mind," she said. "Just like a song, it starts out as a draft. Seeing how it changed, [I got to embody] the metamorphosis."

Cyrus' portion of the presentation culminated with a live performance of her hit song "The Climb" from Hannah Montana: The Movie. She gave a full bodied, A-list performance with a full back-up band, a glittering body skirt outfit and physical routine complete with impassioned gestures. She greeted the audience's fanfare with love and blown kisses before taking her final bow.

"The Last Song" opens January 8, 2010.

'Hannah Montana' Episode On Diabetes Set To Air On Disney Channel

An episode of "Hannah Montana" dealing with diabetes will finally hit the Disney Channel schedule 10 months after the show was pulled from the lineup because of content issues. It's now scheduled for Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
The episode revolves around Miley (Miley Cyrus) and Lilly (Emily Osment) reacting to the knowledge that Oliver (Mitchel Musso) has been diagnosed with Type I diabetes. The pair then turn into food police at a sweet 16 party, to keep Oliver away from certain foods.
Eventually, Oliver puts them at ease: together they - and he - can work through the challenge of diabetes. The segment ends with a feel-good message.
Last November, Disney officials said the content of the episode was reviewed during the scriptwriting process for accuracy and approved, and scheduled to air that month.
Disney had made a big deal about promoting the show and had Nick Jonas, who also has diabetes, star in a public service announcement to air with the show.
But Disney programmers found out there were issues with the content after viewers saw an early version available through video on demand and mobile platforms.
It was pulled without notice.
Indeed, when regular viewers tuned in for the show on the Disney Channel, it wasn't there.
Since then, producers and Disney have reviewed the episode with the the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Afterward, they rewrote and re-edited several scenes.
"We sincerely hope you will find that this revised story more accurately incorporates the subject of living with Type 1 diabetes, with the theme of the character Oliver learning to rely on his friends for support, no matter what challenges may arise," Disney said in a letter to viewers.
